Handwoven Wristlet
These wristlet bags are made using a handwoven fabric, woven on a small loom on Dartmoor using the wool from my flock of rare breed British sheep. They are lined with a cream cotton twill and finished with an antique bronze zip. There is a small pocket inside perfect for cards and I hand make the wrist straps using a technique called macrame.
All the fleeces from my sheep are processed at a spinning mill in Cornwall. The lovely mocha comes naturally from my Castlemilk Moorit sheep and the ecru is from my Portlands. The turquoise colour is created by organically dyeing the fleeces from my Portlands. After their fleeces are processed into a yarn perfect for making woven fabric, it goes to a wonderful, nostalgic weaving shed on Dartmoor where the fabric for these pouches is made.
The wooden tags sewn onto each piece to mark the unique Loopy Ewes provenance, are made for me in Devon on FSC certified wood. No solvents are used in their printing and I hand sew them onto each product using organic cotton thread.
